Bowie, a lovable pittie pup, began his life at Gateway Pet Guardians shelter in St. Louis and was adopted out as a puppy; however, he sadly came back to the shelter just months later.
Time passed and the pup patiently waited for someone to offer him a new opportunity.
The shelter personnel provided Bowie with much-needed affection and nourishment, yet they understood that what he really required was a permanent home. In the end, the staff sent him to live with a foster family so that he could adjust back into life as an adored pet.
Despite two and a half years of waiting, no one had come forward to provide Bowie with the loving home he deserves.
He is an excellent pup – all we ask for in return is that there not be any other pets around him and that he should avoid interacting with children due to his fear-based reactions. Don’t let this sweet boy go another day without finding his forever family; adopt Bowie today!
Despite his many wonderful qualities, this pup is often overlooked. Brittany Fleming, placement manager of Gateway Pet Guardians told WKYC News: “He’s a great dog who is very well trained and just needs someone to give him a chance.” Don’t let this lovable canine go unnoticed any longer – he deserves the opportunity for love and cares from an owner!
A generous person even offered to cover the pup’s adoption fees, yet he still didn’t find a home.
Eventually, the shelter determined that Bowie needed his own PR campaign to find a home. “Any support from the public will be of great help,” said Fleming to KMOV. “The lucky person who adopts him is going to get so much love and attention- there’s an entire fan club waiting for them!”
The shelter’s social media followers were so moved by Bowie’s story, that soon enough applications for his adoption flooded in!
After receiving over 40 offers to adopt Bowie, the shelter diligently searched through each one until they found his forever home.
In the hope of finding Bowie a suitable match, the shelter recently invited Briana to come in and meet him. To her advantage, she had an ideal living situation – no children or pets of her own and even a dog trainer as a roommate!

“We felt that Bowie would be an ideal fit for a shy man who needs some additional time to become comfortable with new people,” the rescue organization shared with 5 On Your Side.
At the conclusion of August, Bowie was welcomed into his new home with open arms and it felt like he understood that this place was going to be a part of his forever family.
As Bowie left the shelter with his new mom, joyous yowls could be heard in the background. In a heartwarming video of the scene, a staff member is seen asking him: “You’re getting adopted – are you ready?”

After 1,250 days of living in a foster home, Bowie is more than ready to find his forever family. He responds with an enthusiastic howl and vigorous tail wag whenever he hears the possibility that it’s time for him to go home!
While Mom is busy signing off on the last of his paperwork, Bowie can hardly contain himself out of excitement to explore his new home.
As reported by WKYC, Bowie’s adopter was fortunate enough to have their adoption fee generously covered by one of his fans. To make the experience even better for both parties involved, he also received four free private training sessions at home and a professional photoshoot from them!
From the moment Bowie was born, it was clear he had a knack for being in the spotlight. The shelter is elated to report that Bowie has settled into his fur-ever home perfectly and even remarked on how his new mama spoils him! We couldn’t be happier knowing that this pup now basks in love and adoration every day – what an amazing ending for all involved.
