Dogs have an acute sense of smell and hearing, which means they can often detect danger before humans. Consequently, their keen alertness is frequently credited with saving people’s lives since they can warn their owners in time for them to avoid disaster.

A man’s loyal dog saved him from a disastrous house fire by immediately alerting him of the impending danger.

On Sunday, Tyler Revel’s home in Wichita, Kansas was destroyed by fire. Although he lost everything he owned, he is grateful to be alive and unharmed. He attributes his safety to his dog Monroe who warned him of the fire in time for him to escape.

Tyler claims he was asleep during the football game when his 6-year-old dog abruptly woke him up, exhibiting atypical behavior.

He told KAKE that “she jumped on the bed and instantly started whining, nudging my head, and crying lightly.”

If it hadn’t been for the dog’s heroic intervention, Tyler would have slept through the fire that rapidly consumed his home. The dense black smoke and flames filled the house quickly, but luckily tyler’s furry friend woke him up in time to escape before it was too late.

“She didn’t stop to think. She knew something was off and she needed to get me out of there as quickly as possible. And that’s exactly what she did.”

Although they couldn’t see or breathe through the smoke, Tyler and Monroe made it out of the flames to safety.

“We were lucky to get out when we did,” Tyler said. “If it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would have made it.”

Although Tyler lost a lot in the fire, he is thankful to be alive and that his heroic dog made it out with him. He is currently trying to find his cat, Boo.

Tyler told KAKE, “She’s my best friend. She’s a good dog. Right now, she’s my hero. I’m really proud of her.”

Monroe is one courageous pup! Thank you for saving her owner’s life. It just goes to show that dogs are so much more than just man’s best friend.
