Stormy, a devoted 2-year-old pit bull, was tragically abandoned by his beloved family at a high-kill shelter. Despite being unconditionally loyal to his mom, dad, and four children for years prior, it seemed he could not comprehend why they would leave him behind in such an unwelcoming environment. Even the staff of the shelter were left perplexed.
With an impending fifth baby, the dog’s family was forced to make room – they decided that meant saying a heartbreaking goodbye to one of their beloved members.
Little Stormy knew nothing but love from this family his entire life until he found himself abandoned by those he loved most.
Abandoned at a bustling Brooklyn shelter, Stormy waited in vain for his family to come back. But as days passed and his hope evaporated, he sunk into despair—he was frightened and had no clue what would happen next.
Thankfully, Alana Guerrini noticed Stormy’s profile and rushed to his rescue. “You could feel the fear radiating off of him,” said Guerrini. “On top of that, he was devastated. His little face completely tugged at my heartstrings.”
With only minutes to spare, we received a call from the shelter that Stormy was placed on the euthanasia list because of their limited resources. The news came like a sign of hope – “You can take him with you! He’s officially yours and off death row.” We were overjoyed at our new companion who had saved his life just in time.
Guerrini and his son arrived at the shelter and were welcomed with open paws by Stormy. The pup was overjoyed to be reunited with them, expressing infinite gratitude through happy hugs and kisses. It seemed as if he knew they had come to take him home.
When Guerrini and his son met Stormy, they fell hard for the pup’s endearing personality – from being warm and cuddly to charming everyone he came in contact with. But what won them over was when Stormy demonstrated extreme gentleness around children; as Guerrini recalled: “My son placed his hand inside of Stormy’s mouth, but instead of clamping down on it – this gentle giant simply pulled back ever so gently, letting us know that we had a real gem on our hands!”
By sheer luck, a few compassionate individuals chose to adopt Stormy within hours of Guerrini’s post on social media. Now with her new family, she is blooming in an atmosphere full of affection and cuddles – the life that all pit bulls deserve!
