In the world of animal rescue, heartbreaking stories are unfortunately not uncommon. However, every now and then, a tale comes along that truly shocks us. This is one of those stories – about a little puppy named Leslie who has overcome unimaginable cruelty and is now looking for a loving home.
Rescue One, a dedicated animal rescue organization in Springfield, Missouri, recently came across a three-month-old pup in a deeply distressing state. The little dog’s fur had been shaved and her body was covered in hateful symbols including swastikas. To add to the horror, she had the words “Don’t feed this [expletive] dog” scrawled across her back. Rescue One shared their disbelief on Facebook, saying, “Just when we think we have seen it all…”

Local authorities managed to rescue the pup, and she was taken under the care of Rescue One, who gave her a new name – Leslie. They promised to help her find a wonderful home, beginning her journey with a much-needed bath to scrub away the hateful messages. The first photo of Leslie post-bath showed her resting comfortably, finally safe and at peace.
The story took a chilling turn when Rescue One received a call about someone torturing and killing cats at the same home Leslie was rescued from. Upon investigation, they found a horrifying situation. The individual claimed to have killed seven cats that month, with one alive but injured cat, and another recently drowned in the toilet.

Rescue One took immediate action, rescuing the surviving cat and other animals in the house. Leslie’s mom, dad, and two siblings were also brought into the safety of the rescue center, joining her in a new start away from their abusive past.
Despite her traumatic past, Leslie has shown remarkable resilience. Rescue One shared that “after a lot of baths and time,” the hateful symbols were completely removed from her body. She’s been thriving and is described as a “precious girl.”

Currently, Leslie is living in a foster home where she’s reported to be doing well and growing healthy. The little fighter has come a long way from her past and is now ready to find her forever home.
If you think you could provide a loving home for Leslie, she’s up for adoption. According to her adoption page, she can happily live with other dogs and children, and her vaccinations are all up to date.
Not only Leslie, but her siblings Nestle and Eve, who were rescued from the same home, are also available for adoption. They too have overcome a difficult past and are ready to find their forever families.

After enduring such a horrific experience, it’s heartening to see Leslie and her siblings safe and cared for. Let’s help them find the loving homes they deserve. Please share their story to spread the word and help these resilient pups find their forever homes.
