Because losing a pet is as painful as losing a member of the family. So one can only imagine with Aisha Nieves of Allentown, Pennsylvania when Kuvo – their pitbull-rottweiler mix – went missing.

However, sometimes it seems like destiny intervenes, and two people who are meant to be together find their way back to each other. There can be a lot of happiness and gratitude for things working out in the end.

Nieves took Kuvo in when he was just seven weeks old. With his build and image, Nieves decided to name the dog after the arrogant but loyal lion cub from Disney’s Lion King sequel films.

Over the course of a few years, Kuvo and Nieves grew very close. Nieves showed lots of love and care for Kuvo, forming a special bond between them.

Nieves vividly remembers her dog, saying “He was my baby. He would go with me everywhere. He would sleep in my bed.”

Nieves and Kuvo were meant for each other. head over heels from the start, they hit it off immediately, and Nieves wholeheartedly believes that Kuvo is a woman’s best friend.

All of that changed the instant an accident occurred on her property–a car crashed into her fence, leaving behind a large hole. Nieves noticed something odd when she returned home from work that night.

When she arrived home, her loyal best friend greeting her with sloppy kisses and cuddles was missing. This hit Kuvo hard because not only was he lost, but four months pregnant with her son at the time. Breaking down in tears, it’s heart-wrenching coming home to an empty house–especially when that furry companion has been by your side through some of life’s greatest moments and most trying times.

anxious thoughts filled her mind, wondering if someone had kidnapped Kuvo. As days turned into weeks and then months, Kuvo was still missing.

Nieves thought she could get back Kovu when she checked a local adoption shelter, but months eventually turned into years, and she was forced to accept that he was gone for good.

When she asked about the dog, the shelter sadly realized that “Ash” had been adopted by somebody else.

Heartbroken and hopeless of ever finding her dog again, Nieves eventually decided to adopt a new one.

As she was checking, she saw a tan pitbull-rottweiler dog and her heart skipped. Could it be? She asked for the dog and in turn, was asked for an adoption fee and a picture of Kovu to prove that it was her dog.

Initially, Kuvo was overjoyed when he met his new family at the shelter. Unfortunately, they were forced to give him up shortly after due to financial trouble.

She told WFMZ-TV, “I position myself on the floor so that I am ready when he jumps me. He screams and yells as he comes over to me.”

After being apart for seven years, Kuvo was finally reunited with his family. His owner, Nieves, had never given up hope and always knew they would find each other again one day. This heartwarming story just goes to show that never giving up pays off in the end.
