Bailey would not have survived without the person who discovered him in time and the police who immediately rescued him. The dog was in terrible condition before he was rescued, but he is doing much better today.
Bailey, a dog who was nearly left to fend for himself in the wild, has made significant strides in the past two months. Boston.com reported.
On July 25, a one-year-old Chihuahua was found in Malden, Massachusetts, near a bike path in a very thin and weakened condition. He was desperately seeking assistance among the bushes.
Lieutenant Tricia Bailey of the Malden Police Department greeted him at the station after a passerby spotted him and called for help.
Immediately after the accident, Bailey was taken to the Charlestown Veterinary Clinic near Boston for treatment before being taken into the care of the local Animal Rescue League.
A Giardia intestinal parasite caused the scabs and patches on the quadruped’s skin and the loss of a lot of hair. He weighed only a little more than a kilogram. He was regaining weight, his skin was improving, and his hair was growing back thanks to the care he received.
According to the Animal Rescue League, Bailey has been making psychological progress as well as other improvements while in foster care. In the last couple of months, he has also ’emerged from his shell’ in his foster home, becoming more sociable. A dog recently was able to see the Malden police officers who saved him again.
Police and the association are investigating his disappearance. At this moment, no suspects have been identified. Anyone with pertinent information is requested to contact the law enforcement authorities.
