A Dog Tied in a Subway, Waiting for a Kind-hearted Commuter to Save Her

During the peak hours of New York City’s subway rush, a heartbreaking sight unfolded on one of the platforms. An abandoned Pit Bull named Betsey was discovered tethered to a railing, her only comfort being a trash bag spread out as a makeshift bed by her unfeeling owner.

Despite the sea of faces that passed her by, none felt moved enough to help the terrified dog. As the hours wore on, Betsey, with a prong collar around her neck, continued to look anxiously at the indifferent crowd, silently pleading for someone to rescue her.

When all hope seemed lost, a compassionate woman named Sarah Borok stepped up. She dialled animal control and, unperturbed by the prospect of being late for work, decided to stay by Betsey’s side. Her comforting presence made it easier for the officers to transport Betsey to a place of safety.

A subsequent vet check-up revealed a harsh reality about Betsey’s past. She had been used as a breeding dog, forced to bear multiple litters, and then discarded when she was no longer deemed valid – a cruel practice prevalent among some unscrupulous breeders. The vet suspected her most recent litter might be on the market already.

Thankfully, the rescue organization “Mr Bones & Co. and Rescue the Path” intervened. They discovered that the noise and chaos of city life triggered Betsey’s anxiety, a likely result of her traumatic past. To help her heal, they placed her in a peaceful foster home outside the city under the tender care of an experienced mother-daughter team.

In her new tranquil environment, Betsey is gradually learning to relax and enjoy the comforts of a well-loved pet. Although her traumatic past often triggers anxiety, she’s a sweet girl. Once fully rehabilitated, she’ll be ready for adoption. Here’s to a brighter future for Betsey!

Let’s share her story far and wide to raise awareness.
