When the office stumbled across an abandoned, underweight pit bull pup tucked away in a small plum box, they were able to bring him to safety with a rescue. However, despite his newfound refuge, the timid puppy refused to leave his makeshift home – that same trusty and comforting plum box.
In The Dodo’s video, animal welfare workers recounted how they found the adorably-named pit bull, Plum. Although he was gentle and kind-hearted to both humans and animals alike, there was one thing that kept him in his box: fear. He refused to be taken away from it no matter what anyone did or said.
The puppy seemed to find true solace in his cardboard box, almost gaining a sense of home and familiarity. A picture was taken of the pup curled up cozily on its first day at the shelter and shared with friends over their Instagram page: @plumpelstiltskin_.
The LifeLine Animal Project welcomed Plum with open arms and put all their effort into building her trust.
Gradually, Plum built up his trust in the people aiding him and felt a sense of peace and protection. Eventually, he mustered enough courage to come out of his shell, allowing him to explore unfamiliar lands!
During an interview with The Dodo, a LifeLine Animal Project employee expressed that he formed a connection to the staff almost immediately and together they decided to create his personal Instagram page. After only being online for one month, they miraculously discovered someone interested in adoption!
The only issue was that the adopter had another dog, and Plum didn’t always get along with other pups. Yet after introducing them to one another, it appeared like a perfect match! This meant that Plum could finally call his new home ‘forever’!
With immense joy, they announced the news on Instagram with enthusiasm: “I’m officially part of a new family! Thank you to all my friends who have been there for me – I couldn’t have done it without them. Follow along as I embark on this incredible journey and begin life anew!”
As Plum kept growing, he gained some healthy weight and eventually blossomed with his new forever family.
