Queen, a little terrier mix, spent 400 long days at the Great Plains SPCA in Merriam, Kansas. Despite her sweet demeanor, she was overlooked time and again during her stay at the shelter. Animal activist Scott Poore, who runs Mission Driven – an organization that creates and promotes fundraisers to help animal shelters, stepped up to draw attention toward Queen.
Scott was determined to find Queen her forever home after he heard about how depressed she had become. After he met her, he was even more committed to helping her. He spent countless hours with her in her kennel and brought along his belongings and bedding to share with her.

Scott’s mission was to live with Queen in her kennel until she was adopted, no matter how long it took. After seven days and nights, her wish came true – Queen found a loving family to call her own.
Scott shared that living in the shelter for seven days and nights was tough, especially given the constant noise from barking animals and Queen’s rope toy waking him up every hour. Even so, he stuck to his commitment to help Queen.
Thankfully, all of his efforts paid off when a father and son from the Kansas City area saw a report about Queen and decided to adopt her into their home.

Scott was thrilled and grateful to see Queen finally leave the shelter after a long wait. He thanked the father and son for giving Queen a loving home where she can live the rest of her life happily.
Scott reminded us why he could not adopt every animal he helped, despite his love for animals. With numerous needy animals, he comes in contact with during his work as an animal advocate; he would have a thousand animals in his house if he adopted them all.
As for Scott, he moved quickly to the next animal who desperately needed his help, always committed to finding them their forever homes.

We are grateful for people like Scott, who speaks for those without voices and sacrifice their comfort for an animal’s happiness. Watch Queen finally leave the shelter after 400 long days and share this story to spread some joy.
