Some stories leave you in disbelief, and the tale of a small puppy abandoned in a quarry is one of them. The reasons leading to the cruel abandonment remain unclear, but what’s certain is that the poor creature, unable to fend for itself, resorted to an unimaginable and harmful behaviour that almost cost it its life.
The puppy was left to wander among stones, so malnourished that its bones were visible, yet its abdomen was oddly bloated. Luckily, volunteers noticed the little dog and immediately sought veterinary help. An ultrasound revealed the bitter truth.
Once again, the cruel hand of humanity struck an innocent few-months-old puppy. The dog was left without food or water in a place that offered no shelter – a situation where any animal’s survival would be near impossible. Driven by hunger, the puppy resorted to eating stones.
This desperate act had severe consequences on its body, blocking its stomach and intestines and intensifying its suffering. Had it not been for the observant volunteers who noticed the white puppy with black spots in dire conditions, there would have been little hope.
Upon examination, veterinarians quickly realized something was wrong. The puppy was struggling to defecate, showing signs of pain through its cries and expressions. The ultrasound then revealed an unexpected sight: the dog’s stomach and intestines were filled with stones, which it could not naturally expel.
Despite the high risk and the puppy’s frail state, the doctors decided to operate – a drastic decision that was necessary to try and save its life. After the surgery, the stones were removed, giving the dog a second chance at life.
Despite the critical days following the operation, the puppy’s health gradually improved, giving hope to the medical team. Stories like this mustn’t go unheard. Ignoring such situations would be equivalent to signing a death sentence for animals at the brink of their endurance.
A long recovery journey is still ahead, but the signs are positive. Hopefully, after this dark chapter, the puppy will get to know the kinder side of humanity – the side that can restore hope.
