A Woman’s Heroic Efforts To Rescue Her Dog Put Her Life At Risk After Falling Through Ice

How far would you go to save your beloved pup if they were in danger? Though it is advised that people allow rescuers to do their job, watching helplessly while your dog struggles can be heartbreaking. This was the position one woman found herself in after her tiny canine slipped through solid ice into a freezing pond. Refusing to wait for help, she decided to take matters into her own hands – but instead of helping, this only made the situation much worse.

Fortunately, a hero wasn’t far away. Deputy Evan Depew is well-versed in rescuing dogs from icy waters, so he was quick to act and immediately arrived at the scene with hopes of salvaging both the woman and her beloved pet.

In a daring act of bravery, the woman risked her safety to rescue her beloved pup, Ethel. After escaping from its owner and tumbling onto a frozen pond, the dog was unable to free itself before the ice cracked beneath it. Without hesitation, the woman ventured out — only for both she and the poor pet to fall into the frigid water below. Although valiant in the effort, luck ultimately wasn’t on their side that day – yet this moment stands as an inspiring reminder of how far we are willing to go for those who matter most

While patrolling nearby, Officer Depew received a distress call regarding the woman and her canine companion. As part of Emergency Response Services, he is equipped to help in emergencies like this one. Upon his arrival at the scene, Deputy Depew saw that the woman’s head and limbs remained above water while her torso was submerged in it.

A guardian angel in the form of a kind stranger stayed at the water’s edge to ensure that the woman was safe. Acting as an anchor, this Good Samaritan worked his way toward them and eventually pulled both Depew and her pup to safety.

Acting swiftly, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office declared that their quick response to this call resulted in a life-saving endeavor for both the woman and her pet.

Once they were on dry land, the woman and pup were instantly blanketed to keep them warm while medical personnel assessed their health. Thank goodness no one was hurt in this nerve-wracking incident!

Just weeks before this rescue mission, Depew had accomplished the unthinkable – he managed to use a lasso to save Kelsey Baez’s German Shepherd puppy from thin ice on their neighbor’s pond. Even with 10 years of experience under his belt, these two heroic rescues were extraordinary achievements for him and revealed just how determined he is when it comes to saving animals in peril.

“It was a profitable day at work. I don’t have good days every single time, but it feels rewarding to recognize that [I’m] assisting others in need – something I am deeply passionate about,” Depew professed with enthusiasm.

Deputies strongly caution pet owners against attempting a self-rescue of their canine companions from icy waters. Doing so could lead to hazardous circumstances for both you and your pup, potentially resulting in dire consequences. If you ever find yourself in this predicament, immediately dial 911 and let the experts take it from there!
