According to Guilford County Animal Services, these individuals are heroes. The agency has not released any information about them or where in the county the suitcase was found.

Guilford County Animal Services wrote on Facebook, “They saw the suitcase moving, and a nose was poking out of an unzipped corner. There were four puppies in the suitcase…They were shocked as to what they found and immediately brought them to the shelter.”

The four puppies are all female and believed to be “Labrador/pit bull mixes” and approximately 10 weeks old. The shelter has given them names that fit the travel theme, including Tumi, Samsonite, Stowaway, and Carion (carry-on).

The shelter officials confirmed that the puppies have been medically evaluated and will soon be available for adoption or rescue. The puppies will be looking for loving and experienced caretakers as they require lots of socialization and care.

The news of the rescue has spread on social media, with hundreds of comments praising the Good Samaritans’ actions and condemning the cruelty of the individual who left the puppies to fend for themselves. Many people have also pointed out the wave of pets being abandoned due to the pandemic.

“This just breaks my heart and makes me so angry all at the same time,” wrote one user on the shelter’s Facebook page. “What an awful person to abandon these sweet babies. I hope they are ok and find loving homes,” wrote another.

This heartwarming and heartbreaking story is a reminder of the importance of rescuing animals in need and helping them find loving homes.

The shelter has thanked the Good Samaritans for taking the time to help these animals, and we should all do the same if we see animals in need.
