Adopting a shelter dog is an admirable and rewarding experience, yet it also entails taking on immense obligations. By welcoming a pup into your home, you are committing to loving them unconditionally for the entirety of their lives.
Although not every family shares the same view, a dog was recently brought back to the shelter for an agonizing reason. Fortunately, though, he eventually found his forever home in a caring and loving environment.
After being discovered as a homeless animal roaming the streets of Miami in June, Twinkle was taken to True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission according to The Dodo.
When she was discovered in a destitute state, much too thin and malnourished, with just some attention and tenderness, Twinkle’s future became incredibly bright!
“Her transformation was remarkable!” Lisa Letson, the rescue’s president, and founder exclaimed to The Dodo. “By gaining weight she became this little cutie that was adopted by a loving family at the start of September.”
Despite the family’s utmost joy at bringing Twinkle home, their blissful ending was short-lived. By Christmas of that same year, they had to sadly return her.
Twinkle, sadly and confusedly, returned to the shelter after her new owners enforced their policy of not allowing dogs in bed. This had been a shock for Twinkle who just months prior thought she’d found her forever home. Evidently heartbroken by the sudden change of events, poor Twinkle was tentatively waiting at the shelter once again.
Madison Mulvihill, the social media coordinator, described her experience seeing his beloved with “confusion on her face and pain in her heart.”
When it was time for her to be reunited with her family, the owners carelessly pushed her over the fence. She kept looking back at that defining barrier and all we can do is imagine what could have led them to do this heartless act.
In the face of such misfortune, Twinkle’s story began to turn around. Sympathy and aid from other people online resonated with many hearts, and soon an adoption request for Twinkle was received by the rescue agency.
After an epic road trip from South Carolina, the family finally arrived at their destination – Twinkle! As soon as they met her, it was clear that this amazing pup belonged in their loving home. According to a TikTok posted by the rescue team, there couldn’t have been a more perfect match.
For Twinkle, the second attempt at finding a home proved to be successful. The rescue was overjoyed when they saw that this adorable senior pup had finally landed in her forever home!

Mulvihill told The Dodo, “This senior will have the privilege of spending their remaining days in a cocoon of love.”
It’s heartbreaking that Twinkle was abandoned by her previous family, yet we are elated to know she has been embraced with open arms and a loving home. Now, this sweet pup is free to be loved for who she truly is!
