Dogs often form strong connections with other animals and humans. When they’re separated, it can be stressful for everyone involved. This is the story of OJ and Blue Dozer, two inseparable dogs who faced a challenging journey.
OJ, a blind 12-year-old Dachshund, relies on his best friend, Blue Dozer, a 6-year-old pit bull, to guide him through life. Their unique bond caught the attention of Richmond Animal Care and Control, who wanted to find a home where both dogs could be adopted together.

The shelter staff was overjoyed when someone agreed to adopt both dogs. However, it soon became clear that the adopter only wanted Blue Dozer. OJ was found wandering alone 100 miles from the shelter. The Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center identified him through his microchip and contacted the adopter, who admitted she didn’t want OJ.
News of the dogs’ separation spread, and people criticized both the shelter and the adopter. The situation escalated with threats being made against the adopter. The shelter stepped in, reminding everyone to extend love and compassion toward humans as well.

Eventually, the adopter agreed to return Blue Dozer. Upon their reunion, the two best friends snuggled together, happy to be together again.
Richmond Animal Care and Control emphasized their commitment to finding loving homes for animals, despite challenges that may arise after adoption. They trust people to care for and love the animals they adopt.

In the end, the shelter successfully found a home that welcomed both OJ and Blue Dozer. To learn more about Richmond Animal Care and Control, visit their Facebook page.
