It is always heartbreaking to see dogs, especially puppies, left behind with no one to love and care for them. I recently heard a story about an abandoned chihuahua-mix puppy that tugged at my heartstrings and I felt compelled to share it with you.
Nestled in a shoebox outside of an abode, the lonely pup had found herself a cozy spot to call home. Her presence was soon noticed by her new neighbors who began providing meals for her regularly and kept this abandoned youngster alive.
For many weeks, two animal shelters were asked for explanations regarding the puppy’s plight. Why was this pup all by itself? Who had abandoned it and why?
The animal rights activists Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte accepted the case and launched an investigation. As they picked up the pup from her box, they realized she was missing a leg. Sadly, she was too weak to even move due to her emaciated state.
Hagar and Frankonyte quickly brought Princess to the vet, where they discovered that she was covered in fleas and her coat was caked with dirt. Without any hesitation, a warm bath ensued to give this sweet animal a fresh start.
As the vet inspected Princess, he soon noticed that there was more than just a missing leg. He discovered she had severe anemia and her condition required immediate and vigilant attention. Fortunately, Princess received the care she needed to recover from this precarious state of health.
After a few weeks of treatment at the vet and some tenacious hubris, Princess made her way to recovery. She overcame her ailments with determination and eventually got herself back in good health!
Unhappily, dogs like Princess being left in such sad conditions are not uncommon. We can only speculate as to how this particular chihuahua wound up on the streets.
Those who mistreat animals should not be allowed to ever look after them. Fortunately, there are selfless souls like Eldad and Loreta who go the extra mile in protecting creatures abandoned by society – they ought to be celebrated!
