When people or animals are thought of as different or flawed, they suffer the same harsh consequences; being neglected and ignored. This is especially difficult for children who may be affected by this injustice, having their outlook on life changed because of it.
When it comes to baby animals, they may struggle with trusting humans, and without a home, their future is uncertain.
This was the case for Daffodil, a Chihuahua puppy who had an incredibly heartbreaking story: her prior owner found out that she was born without front legs so he rejected and abandoned her on the streets.
The poor pup was discovered in a dismal circumstance — abandoned and alone inside an inadequate box, soggy from harsh rain. Due to their young age, Daffodil requires a safe home with sustenance and hydration; however many pass by without noticing the harrowing sight before them. Fortunately, one compassionate soul will emerge eventually as our savior for this helpless animal’s survival.
When people initially encountered Daffodils, they couldn’t help but be charmed. Yet as soon as they noticed she was missing her front legs, their hearts, and eyes hardened in an instant – until a kind-hearted young man crossed paths with her and without hesitation adopted the pup into his home.
When he took Daffodil to the SPCA, she was in a dire state due to her malnourishment and poor care. Though they could not be sure that the pup would survive for long, surprisingly, when provided with tender loving care from the shelter staff, Daffodil displayed remarkable strength and vitality against all odds.
Without warning, she morphed from a shy pup into an active and playful one; as if nothing could break her spirit despite all the horrendous treatment she had experienced at such a tender age. It was obvious to each member of the SPCA staff that this deserving dog deserved another chance in life.
To make Daffodil’s day-to-day life more enjoyable, the loving staff thought of an innovative plan — give her a custom wheelchair! They measured and constructed her wheels with care. Finally, two weeks later she was able to experience what turned out to be an epic first ride in her new wheelchair. It was nothing short of a relief for both Daffodil and those who cared deeply about giving her this joyous gift surrounded by supportive people.
Although she faced numerous setbacks and stumbles, they never stopped rooting for her. It was Olivia who eventually became her forever pet parent.
Despite a tumultuous beginning, Daffodil was graced with the fortune of finding her way to an incomparable family and life. Her young boy guardian opened his arms wide for this darling pup; SPCA caretakers were also instrumental in returning Daffodil to good health.
