After swimming for several miles, Monster made it to shore and was eventually reunited with her grateful owner. Kiwi credits Monster’s determination and strength for her ability to survive the treacherous waters and find her way back home. This serves as a reminder to always keep a close eye on our furry friends.

Soffes told KRIV, “We were heading back to the dock when Monster suddenly disappeared. She always goes back there and barks at the birds or tries to pull the net onboard, but this time she was nowhere to be found.”

Kiwi and his crew searched for Monster but were unable to locate her. “We thought she had drowned,” he said, “But she’s such a strong swimmer. We should have known she’d find her way back.”

When the shrimp boat captain found that Monster was missing, he tried to turn the boat around and get her back. But he couldn’t find her. Soffes cried as he remembered thinking he would never see his puppy again. He said, “I was in the middle of the bay, pretty far from any land.”But a few days later, the Soffes family received a call from the Galveston Animal Shelter. monster had been found on a beach miles away from where she went missing.”I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy and relieved,” Kiwi said, “

He added, “My heart just dropped. I couldn’t speak, but I turned around, got my GPS coordinates, and said ‘We’re going to find her.’ Then I scanned the coast up and down.” He posted about the incident on Facebook in case his puppy by some chance made it to shore alive, but days passed with no news.

This was the first time Soffes and his pup had been apart for any amount of time so he was understandably upset. But the determined dog managed to swim several miles and finally make it back to land, where she was picked up by the animal shelter.
