In the bustling city of Batumi, Georgia, a lone stray dog named Kupata has taken it upon himself to ensure pedestrians’ safety. His self-appointed role? A vigilant crossing guard for the busy streets of his neighborhood.
One day, Beqa Tsinadze, a resident, chanced upon a remarkable sight. As a group of kindergarteners, accompanied by two adults, stood at a marked crosswalk, waiting for a chance to cross, Kupata sprang into action.
Despite the children’s visible presence, none of the drivers yielded. The group waited patiently, but the motorists seemed oblivious. That’s when Kupata decided he’d had enough of the disregard.
Refusing to stand by, Kupata confronted the oncoming vehicles, barking fiercely as if scolding them for their lack of consideration. His courageous act made the cars stop, allowing the pedestrians to cross safely.
But Kupata’s job still needs to be done. Once the group began crossing, he positioned himself at the forefront, guiding them across the road like a seasoned traffic warden.
This was not a solitary act of bravery. Beqa later shared another video, showing Kupata performing his duty once again. As a group of kindergarteners prepared to cross, Kupata chased away a reckless driver before circling back to lead the children safely across.
During this second incident, an impatient driver honked at the crossing group. Undeterred, Kupata barked back, ensuring the children crossed without disruption.
How Kupata became the community’s crossing guard remains a mystery. It was his way of expressing gratitude to the neighborhood that cared for him when he arrived as a stray.
