Located in Carlsbad, California, the San Diego Department of Animal Services was entrusted with Harvey – a 1.5-year-old husky.

Humane officer Joy Ollinger’s social media post revealed that Harvey was born with a facial deformity that gives him an endearing crooked smile – although it doesn’t bother him in the slightest.

“I find his personality even more charming,” wrote Joy, who noted that the husky was “peaceful and serene.” “He’s a joy to take on walkies as well!”

Although Harvey is content and healthy, it can be difficult for distinct-looking dogs like him to find a loving home.

Yet, Harvey quickly gained the affection of a single family who dedicated themselves to making him part of their own.

According to CBS 8, Sherry Lankston of Seattle was smitten with Joy’s post about Harvey that she saw online and decided it was worth the trek. Even though Harvey resided 2,600 miles from her home in Seattle, she set off on a journey across America with an open heart.

When I spotted his beaming smile, we both knew that we had to meet him. As it had been a while since our last visit to San Diego and the places and people beloved by us there, why not take this opportunity for a road trip? she remarked with enthusiasm.

Amidst a winter storm that struck Southern California, Sherry and her family faced uncertain odds as they journeyed to San Diego; there was no way of knowing whether Harvey would still be available for adoption.

After a grueling and lengthy journey from Seattle to San Diego, Harvey was still available for adoption; thankfully the family took him in.
