Flip Finally Gets A Home After Being In A Shelter For 2,555 Days — Congratulations, Flip

Every shelter dog wants to be adopted, but unfortunately, some wait months or even years before they finally find a home. Dogs that wait months or even years to be adopted are sadly common.

One dog, Flip, who was in a shelter for 2,555 days, has finally gone to his forever home. Fortunately, the long wait is over.

A post about Flip, a 7-year-old, black-and-white dog who had been waiting for a home for nearly his entire life, was shared on September 8 by the Lake Humane Society in Ohio.

According to the shelter, Flip was having difficulty finding the ideal home.

He has spent most of his life in a shelter, and for good reason,” the shelter wrote. “Flip is a wonderful dog, but he has difficulty finding the right home. Although he should be the only pet in the house, he’s a social butterfly with other dogs outside. He’s wonderful on a leash, adores cuddles, and will be your weekend couch potato when you need a break from the real world.”

Flip has been at the shelter for seven years, ever since he was humanely investigated and likely abused early in his life. Things have never been easy for Flip: he first arrived at the shelter after a humane investigation and likely faced some abuse early in his life.

The animal shelter’s carers gave Flip lots of affection and never abandoned their mission of finding him a great home. Because he ‘has been through so much in his lifetime’, they searched for a unique owner who would be patient and allow him to ‘decompress.’ ‘The staff and volunteers are so fond of him and want him to live a life of kindness, trust, and love, which is what he deserves.’

Finally, after seven years of waiting, Flip finally found a home this month, according to People. After hearing about Flip’s story online, Jennifer Schorr, who lost her own German Shepherd, changed her mind about getting a new dog.

Jennifer told People that Flip melted her heart when she saw him, and his story melted it even more. She adopted him from the Lake Humane Society and has been fitting right in at home ever since. The shelter cautioned that it would take some time for Flip to adjust, but he has adjusted well.

That dog just walked right in and made himself at home!” Jennifer exclaimed. “Flip is a very affectionate dog who loves to snuggle on the couch with you.”

Jennifer said that Flip was the “perfect dog” and that he enjoyed walking and sleeping in her bed, according to People. She told People that she thinks Flip will be fine living with her forever in his new home. She already loves him to death.
