Every shelter pup longs with hope to be adopted into their forever home, and shelters strive ceaselessly to make this dream a reality. However, the process is not always smooth sailing; some animals may take longer than others to find their match while heartbreakingly some adoptions don’t come through despite all efforts.
Last week, we had the pleasure of relaying Ronald’s story – a pup with 14 unsuccessful adoptions who never gave up hope. We are delighted to report that after persevering through his unlucky streak, he has finally found his forever home!
On January 11, the SPCA of Wake County shared Ronald’s heartbreaking story on their page. It appears that his unsuccessful attempts to find a home were likely because of his size: even though he only weighs 63 pounds, Ronald is considered quite large with an expansive frame which could have been intimidating for families with small children who weren’t expecting such a big dog.
Ronald is a “big pup” in every sense of the word; when he gets highly stimulated, he’ll re-enact his natural behavior by standing on all fours and placing his paws lovingly upon you – or even nibbling at your skin.
Although Ronald might have been a tad rambunctious for certain households, the SPCA was certain that somewhere out there existed an individual who he would be an ideal companion for.
The SPCA remarked, “Ronald is truly an exemplary pup! He knows his commands, takes treats with gentle care, and loves learning tricks. Our beloved dog will be an ideal student for training sessions.”
Subsequently, Ronald’s luck improved dramatically. His story spread quickly, and numerous people expressed enthusiasm for his adoption to the point where no more requests could be accepted at the shelter.
Samantha Ranlet, a spokesperson for the SPCA, expressed her astonishment to WRAL when explaining that “his whole bad luck streak turned around in an instant!”, adding: “We are overwhelmed by these remarkable responses.”
Luckily, Ronald’s difficult circumstances have improved and the SPCA is happy to announce that his unlucky streak has been reversed.
The SPCA happily shared pictures of Ronald with his new family, who reported he was getting along fabulous: “His adoring parents say that the kids are smitten and it’s clear to see why,” they stated.
After 14 dashed hopes, Ronald’s 15th adoption experience became a tremendous success! The SPCA was beyond elated by the news and even more so by the incredible amount of support that flooded in for this deserving pup.
We are humbled and grateful for your influx of words of support and offers to help Ronald, which were shared on Facebook – it’s unbelievable how quickly the reach expanded! Thanks to all of you who used your keyboards to spread this news, we have seen that within a day Ronald was exposed to almost one million people. The magnitude of influence held by our followers never fails to amaze us!
We can’t be more delighted that Ronald’s luck has finally changed, and he now lives in a forever home! Show your support by spreading this amazing news to everyone you know.
