Narwhal was born with an unusual congenital disability, an extra tail on his forehead, making him an extraordinary Golden Retriever. This delightful oddity has won the internet over, but unfortunately, his original owner didn’t share the sentiment.
In the frosty chill of early November, rescuers in Missouri found Narwhal abandoned, likely due to his additional tail. But every cloud has a silver lining, and for Narwhal, it was Mac’s Mission.
Mac’s Mission, a local organization tagged by the rescuers on social media, took this special pup under their wing. Known for their work with unique cases, they were the perfect haven for Narwhal. Rochelle Steffen, who fosters for Mac’s Mission, was smitten at first sight. “I melted,” she said. “He lights up the entire room with how happy he is.”
They believed this extraordinary pup deserved an equally unique name. So, they christened him “Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn.” Soon, Narwhal’s heartwarming story and adorable photos went viral!
A vet check revealed that Narwhal was in decent health despite his harsh beginnings. He had a minor foot injury and worms but no other health issues. X-rays showed that his extra tail, made only of skin and fur, didn’t wag and wasn’t connected to anything. According to Mac’s Mission, it makes Narwhal “the COOLEST PUPPY EVER!”
There’s no medical need to remove the extra tail, so it’s staying put. For now, Narwhal is enjoying life with Mac’s Mission and Rochelle, waiting for the day he’s ready for adoption.
