Heartbreaking Picture of Dog Riding Bus Solo Leads to Delightful Ending

A sad-looking dog, sitting alone on a bus in Bradford, England, caught the attention of many on social media and ultimately found a new home because of it.

Gemma Louise Burton spotted the Staffie-cross dog while traveling on a bus. The canine passenger appeared unhappy, quietly sitting in a seat and sniffing around as if searching for someone. Burton snapped a photo of the dog on October 16, 2019, and shared it on Facebook, hoping to find its owner.

She wrote, “This little cutie came on the 620 bus at Bierley Lane to Bradford this morning. If she belongs to you and you’re in Bradford, please, please come to the Bradford Interchange bus station and collect her.”

Fellow passengers also helped search for the owner while ensuring the dog’s safety. They prevented her from getting off the bus, fearing she might be hit by traffic.

The dog’s photo quickly went viral, and an animal control officer was waiting at Bradford Interchange to take her to Barnsley’s Cliffe Kennels & Rescue. The shelter staff named her “Olive” after a character from the British sitcom “On The Buses.”

Unfortunately, no one claimed Olive, but the shelter soon received numerous calls from potential adopters.

Just a month later, Cliffe Kennels & Rescue announced that Olive had found her perfect home. They said, “Olive has now gone to her new home & has settled in wonderfully. We did a very carefully written application process to find Olive the best home possible. Before Olive was adopted, we had her spayed, vaccinated & operated on both her eyes for entropion & gave her time to recover.”

In the end, Olive’s unexpected bus ride led her to a happy new beginning.
