A life-altering 7.8 magnitude earthquake impacted Turkey and Syria, causing at least 50,000 fatalities. In the time since this tragic event occurred, search and rescue teams have valiantly worked to locate surviving victims of the disaster.
In a miraculous moment, the aftermath of an earthquake yielded one survivor after 22 days- a Husky dog.
Miraculously, the pup named “Aleks” was discovered alive and well underneath a collapsed two-story building in Hatay, Turkey an astonishing twenty-two days after the February 6 earthquakes.
According to the Anadolu Agency news outlet, Aleks had somehow managed to survive this traumatic incident unscathed.
The sound of the pup’s barking was heard by its owner and that prompted a rescue effort to be initiated. Upon examining the debris, it became clear that the canine wasn’t dead – HAYTAP volunteer Osman Polat said: “The space where he lay buried beneath rubble was very confined – only his nose could fit through a tiny gap.” It is truly miraculous how this loyal pooch managed to survive such dire circumstances!
After two hours of difficult work, the brave rescuers managed to free the dog and bring him to safety. Osman Polat recounted his heroic efforts: “I used my hands to open up that iron trap; it was a miracle I could get him out.”
Spectacularly, the pup emerged in relatively sound condition. It is unknown how Aleks managed to endure beneath the wreckage for such an extended period; it’s truly a miracle he made it through 22 days without food or water!
Despite the ongoing tragedy in Turkey and Syria, stories like this can offer a beacon of hope.
In an inspiring story, a courageous firefighter found and safely retrieved a cat from the wreckage. Surprisingly, instead of running away in relief after being rescued, the grateful feline has been inseparable from its rescuer ever since! If he can’t find the missing pet’s owner, the kind-hearted firefighter said that he would happily keep it as his own.
We are overjoyed that Aleks was located alive after an incredible 22-day ordeal! His family must have presumed he had perished, yet astonishingly, he managed to stay alive. What a miracle!
