Starving Dog Left Tied To A Tree, Is Finally Saved And Given A Forever Home With The Man Who Stepped In Just In Time

Good pet owners want to give their dogs the best life possible and make sure they have everything they need. This includes a comfortable place to sleep, nutritious food, and medical care when necessary.

The abuse of dogs often leaves them injured or dead, which is why it’s such a shocking issue.

Unfortunately, in Oak Cliff, Texas, a dog was abandoned. However, thanks to the kindness of strangers, the pup is being taken care of.

Kaleigh Wetrich and her friend were out for a walk in the woods when they heard faint barking. Upon investigating, they found a boxer mix tied to a tree.

The dog had been suffering and was wrapped in a garden hose and tied between two trees. He had nothing to do but stand there and wait to die.

Though he was abandoned, destitute, and alone, hope still burned within him. Kaleigh knew that she had to act fast; walked up to him cautiously. He started barking aggressively as if trying to say “I’m here!”

Although Kaleigh was not able to physically handle the situation on her own, she did contact Apollo Support & Rescue. Thankfully, one of their volunteers – Steve Basham – arrived quickly to help the puppy. From what Kaleigh could tell, it seemed as if he had been left alone for at least a week without food or water.

Steve felt that Lucky, the dog he found, was in such bad shape that his organs were shutting down. Kaleigh cried all night after finding out about Lucky’s state. She spoke to a local station saying: “I could never just let an animal suffer and die like that.”

They took Lucky to the clinic and ran some tests. He was in bad shape, suffering from severe anemia, flea infestation, and hookworms.

Even though he was in poor condition when he arrived, he started making progress right away. He was fostered out by a rescuer and is now doing very well. They are hoping that with more time and care, he will be able to make a full recovery and then be sent to a loving forever home.

Steve posted on Facebook:

“I was preparing Lucky’s dinner of AD Critical Care canned food (along with assorted medications and vitamins mixed in per vet.) As I leaned over to put his food bowl down in front of him, he jumped up to my face and started giving me big wet puppy kisses nonstop. Here come the tears.”

Lucky, the furry friend of Steve Basham, was recently rescued and did quite well after recovering. In fact, he was even able to play fetch! However, before being sent to his forever home, it became apparent that where he should’ve been all along was with Steve.

This dog finally finding a home is amazing, and we’re so glad they got such a sweet send-off. Please share this beautiful story with your friends ❤️
