Dogs are known for being man’s best friend, and Boncuk’s loyalty to her owner, Cemal Senturk, certainly proves this to be true. When Senturk was taken by ambulance to the Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon, Turkey on January 14th, Boncuk refused to stay at home. Though Senturk’s cause of illness hasn’t been confirmed, he was hospitalized for six days before being discharged.
Boncuk was found at the hospital’s automatic doors, peering inside as people entered and exited. Staff at the hospital notified Senturk of her whereabouts.
Despite being transported back home, she somehow managed to escape and arrive at the hospital each day. Senturk’s family, who lived nearby, were unable to confirm how the dog kept escaping.

Senturk couldn’t bear being without his dog. Eventually, he ended up communicating with her through a hospital window each day. Boncuk would poke her nose through the doors on some days, but mostly she waited patiently outside for her owner to come out.
Boncuk’s dedication to her owner and her daily presence outside the hospital did not go unnoticed. The hospital staff began to care for the dog, feeding her and ensuring she had adequate shelter. She sat and waited outside for Senturk to recover.

Murat Ercan, the hospital’s international patient center director, was impressed by Boncuk’s behavior and remarked, “Boncuk has behaved really sweet during the six days and has managed to capture the love and affection of the whole staff.”
When Senturk was cleared to leave the hospital, Boncuk met him at the gate. The loyal dog had waited outside for six days to ensure she was there when her owner was finally able to leave the hospital.

This story of a loyal dog patiently waiting outside a hospital for six days, and the care she received from hospital staff, is a heartwarming reminder of the bond between pets and their owners.
