Vets Are Shocked By The Number of Puppies Delivered By Tiny Shelter Dog

As a tiny terrier with a burgeoning belly, she was helplessly entrapped in an overcrowded sanctuary tucked away deep within rural Kentucky. With the number of canines already present at the facility, they would no doubt be inundated once her pregnancy came to fruition.

When veterinarians from the Kentucky Humane Society heard about this mama dog in need, they hurried to her aid. Fortunately, it was not too late as a hefty litter of puppies was just moments away from being delivered.

After being examined by a team of veterinarians, Momma Malone was given her new name and it was determined that she would likely require a C-section for the birthing process.

Dr. Emily Bewley, the veterinarian who brought the puppies into this world, expressed both her delight and apprehension to The Dodo: “I was overjoyed – but also apprehensive. Thankfully she trusted us enough at Kentucky Humane Society that we were able to deliver them safely.”

As Momma Malone neared her due date, Dr. Bewley opened the doors of his home to ensure that she had a comfortable place to stay and receive assistance from the veterinary staff. Knowing there would be an abundance of puppies born soon, he took all measures necessary for their safe arrival.

While en route to the shelter, Dr. Bewley’s son soothed the pup in the back of their car as they prepared for a busy day ahead – with many puppies needing surgeries. Upon their arrival, it only took 20 minutes before these furry little friends were safe and sound again!

Every face was beaming as they set their sights on the new family. Typically, small canines deliver anywhere from two to five pups. But Momma Malone had astounded everyone by bringing nine into the world!

At first, the veterinary staff was concerned that Momma Malone might struggle to bond with her puppies given their unique delivery method. However, they soon observed an amazing connection between mother and child – it was evident how much she treasured them!

When she emerged from her slumber, Dr. Bewley was amazed at how quickly and confidently she embraced motherhood – as if this wasn’t her first time! She has taken great care of all the babies since the start.

Until March, Momma Malone and her puppies will call the humane society their home sweet home – but then it’ll be time for them to find families that are ready to welcome them into their homes forever.

This persistent pup has endured an overpopulated shelter and a bloated stomach, yet it seems that nine babies in her bed are exactly what she needs to feel content.
