With the arrival of winter and the onset of cold weather, a host of dangers emerge. From treacherous icy roads to the threat of frostbite, we must remain mindful of the numerous risks associated with this season.
This year’s prolonged and severe winter led to an increase in accidents beyond the typical frequency. Tragically, Noreen, an 87-year-old, fell victim to the unforgiving cold weather.
Tim Curfman, Noreen’s neighbor, is the proud owner of Midnight, a delightful black Labrador mix. Both Tim and Noreen are well-acquainted with the chilly conditions that accompany life in Minnesota.
Noreen went outside to refill her bird feeder, thinking she would be safe. Unfortunately, the task was too dangerous, and Midnight saw Noreen lying in the snow. He alerted his owner immediately.
When Tim realized something was wrong, he asked Midnight to show him the way.
Midnight took Tim around the house to where Noreen lay helpless on the ground.
Tim immediately lifted Noreen to her feet and brought her inside when he saw her. He guessed that she had only been there for half an hour.
Tim’s wife quickly got some dry clothes and wrapped Noreen in a towel when she realized what was happening.
Noreen is fortunate that she didn’t suffer any injuries or frostbite.
She’s very thankful for Tim, his family, and their clever dog.
