After Being Abandoned By Owner For A New Couch, Cat Starves Itself

Magnificat Cat Rescue and Rehoming

Tim was only a three-month-old kitten when he moved into what should have been his forever home.

The tabby trusted his owner with all of his heart, and never suspected that he would have it broken in return.

Tim’s family sadly abandoned him at New York City Animal Care and Control (ACC), citing that they had gotten rid of their old couch as the reason.

Tim was heartbroken and fell into a deep depression.

Tim’s family was in danger of being torn apart, and he himself was close to losing his life–all because he was put on the ACC’s euthanasia list.

Although they found Tim a great foster family, he continued to suffer from a broken heart.

Depression had taken a toll on Tim, and he stopped eating altogether. The forlorn kitty just wanted to curl up in a little ball of grief, agonizing over being rejected by his family. But then Tim’s life changed when he met the cat adoption specialist at the local animal shelter.

His foster family had to feed him through a tube, but he kept losing weight.

Tim’s new fosters only wanted the best for Tim and they hoped he would be able to find happiness once again.

They showed Tim as much love and care as they could, praying that one day he’d feel happiness and love again. And joy started to trickle back into his life little by little.

We are grateful for the individuals who dedicate their time to helping animals in need and returning happiness back into the lives of innocent cats, such as Tim.
