Best Friends Create a Bucket List for Their 19-Year-Old Shelter Dog to Fill Her Last Days With Love

So that they could fill her last days with love, a 19-year-old shelter dog was recently taken in by two best friends from Texas.

Lauren Siler and Lisa Flores are best friends who live together in Dallas, Texas with their 18-year-old dog, Tippy.

The pair decided to bring some life into the home in the form of a 19-year-old foster dog named Annie.

Siler told Good Morning America, “I was in Anchorage preparing to fly back to Dallas when I saw somebody had posted that she–referring to the dog–was at the shelter and they needed help.”

“I was so excited to show Lisa Annie’s picture when I got back to Dallas,” he said. “She immediately wanted to adopt her.”

Flores fell in love with the older black Labrador retriever mix instantly and was more than ever motivated to add her to the family.

Annie’s best friends decided to make a bucket list for her and she quickly became the center of attention on the Dallas Animal Foster Instagram page.

Annie has done some pretty out-of-the-box things, like celebrating Christmas in July, receiving Valentine’s Day gifts early, going on a hamburger tour of her city, and even having a professional photoshoot!

Siler said that they will be getting cute little chef outfits for the children and letting them make homemade dog treats.

“After that, we’re planning to do a chicken nugget tour, similar to the hamburger one.”

Annie’s owners love her dearly, and they also want to encourage others to adopt senior pets.
“These animals deserve a loving home,” Siler said.

“They have devoted their lives to giving people joy and happiness, and we owe it to them to make sure they have a comfortable retirement.”

Stephanie Rowe and Duke Hemstree, the founders of Powerful Rescue of Royse City, Texas, support Annie as she’s fostered by Siler and Flores.

Siler said, “Our hope is that this encourages others to adopt or foster animals. I always say that if you can’t adopt an animal, then please foster one. If you can’t do either of those things, donate and/or volunteer your time instead because there are many ways to get involved with animal rescue – taking an animal into your home permanently isn’t the only option.”
