Dog and Goat Become Unexpected Best Friends and Find a Home Together

The sweetness of animal friendships is undeniably beautiful, and the bond between two different species can be especially strong. Such relationships are a testament to how friendship can transcend any other differences.

Cinnamon the goat and Felix the dog were such good friends that their shelter couldn’t separate them. So they looked for an adoptive home where they could stay together.

On March 13, Cinnamon and Felix arrived at the Wake County Animal Shelter in North Carolina after their owner was no longer able to provide for them. This was according to a statement from the Wake County government.

The two arrived at the shelter and it was evident they were close companions. “They are devoted to one another; even sleeping in the same bed and never being apart except for meal times,” according to a Facebook post.

The staff remarked that Cinnamon and Felix’s connection was extraordinary; while both species are naturally gregarious, it is rare to observe a bond between a dog and a goat like this one.

Dr. Jennifer Federico, director at Wake County Animal Shelter, expressed surprise to WTVD, stating that “[it’s] not a normal combination” for them to have goats attacking dogs, instead of the “very unusual” situation they are seeing.

“They see that things are possible, and they don’t perceive any differences.”

It was evident that Cinnamon and Felix had formed a strong bond and would need to be rehomed together. Despite the rareness of this situation, the shelter remained determined to keep the pair united.

Dr. Federico told Wake.gov that it is clear what would be best for the two’s well-being is to keep them bonded together, regardless of the reason.

Thankfully, Wake County Animal Shelter shared an update this afternoon that a rescue had stepped up to take in Cinnamon and Felix as a pair. This means that the two can stay together!
