In a world where some heartlessly abandon their pets, heroes like Joey Wagner exist. This marine from Nova Scotia not only saved a puppy’s life but also gave him a loving home.

In 2012, Wagner stumbled upon Mojo, a pitbull puppy teetering on the brink of death. Suffering from severe demodectic mange – a parasitic skin disease that had caused significant hair loss – Mojo was in desperate need of help.

Moved by the dog’s plight, Wagner rushed him to the vet. However, the prognosis was uncertain. Breaking Wagner’s heart further was the discovery that Mojo had been used as bait in dogfighting rings, leading to his pitiful state. But Mojo was a fighter, and he survived.

Because of the severity of Mojo’s condition, immediate adoption was out of the question. He needed time to heal. Yet, with Mojo’s incredible will to get better, he gradually regained his health.

During his recovery, the shelter staff became very attached to Mojo. When he was finally up for adoption, they didn’t want him going to just anyone. They had one particular person in mind – Joey Wagner, Mojo’s hero.

Delighted to be considered, Wagner returned to the shelter to adopt Mojo. The moment they locked eyes, Mojo recognized his saviour. This wasn’t just a quick reunion; Wagner was there to bring Mojo home.

Their emotional reunion was captured on video, amassing over 1.3 million views on YouTube. Viewers were visibly moved by their story. One viewer commented, “What a beautiful, heartwarming story. This puppy had the will to survive for his new daddy and for his awesome future ahead.”

Today, Mojo is three years old and living a fantastic life with his Dad. He’s even made new friends, like Stevie, who is just as lovable as Mojo.

While his fur hasn’t fully regrown due to his past injuries, what matters most is that he’s found a loving family, and his health is better than ever.
