For Toro, a simple hug is an expression of the immense love and gratitude he feels after having been saved from the hell he was living in.
Toro, the pup who was found chained to a fence in front of an abandoned building (likely having spent his whole life outside), wants the world to know how thankful he is now that he’s safe.
Toro was scared and nervous when he first arrived at the shelter.
After a lifetime of being isolated, without attention or love, the pup wasn’t sure what to make of his new home.
Though he was reserved and introspective, it was also clear that this pup just wanted to be a good boy and had a kind heart.
When he arrived at the shelter, he was withdrawn and shy.Slowly but surely, he’s started to come out of his shell and become more social. Though he still gets overwhelmed sometimes,on the whole,he’s doing much better than when first arrived .
Although he is insecure, Toro knows that he must tell his rescuers how much he loves and appreciates them.
His little heart is filled with so much love for them that he just has to let it out. They’ve treated him with such care and kindness.
Hugs have become a common occurrences at the shelter ever since he started handing them out. It all started one day when he was playing in the yard and ran back to staff member Melissa Fogarty.
He crawled up into her lap and pressed himself against her chest, melting into the most beautiful, loving hug ever. Fogarty was surprised and deeply moved by Toro’s sweet gesture.
Toro escaped a sad and miserable past only to be showered with love and care. Now, he spends his days handing out hugs as a sign of gratitude. It’s clear that Toro just wants to make sure everyone knows how grateful he is, and hopefully melt some hearts along the way.
Toro has been waiting for over a year to find his forever family. All he desires is a tranquil and constant home where he can feel cherished and safe.
“He’s a middle-aged pit mix living in a high-intake municipal shelter, and I think that’s why he hasn’t been adopted yet,” Fogarty told The Dodo. “There are so many other dogs there that he gets lost in the crowd.”
With Toro’s newfound popularity online, we are confident that the family meant to adopt him will see him soon and recognize that they were always meant to provide him with the life he deserves.
Until he finds his forever home, little Toro will stay content at the shelter with everyone fawning over him. He loves giving out magical hugs and feels grateful for the temporary home.
