According to MailOnline, Batu Akyol watched in distress as his beloved dog Sumak plunged into the Ancoats Canal. In a desperate attempt to save her pup, he clutched tightly onto the leash with all his might.

When Jack and Ben noticed the dog battling to stay put on the wall, they chose to take action. “The scene was chaotic,” Ben said in an interview with MailOnline. “I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand by idly and watch this pup suffer, so I quickly spread my coat below him for a softer landing.” Through their combined efforts, both men were successfully able to rescue the dog from its precarious situation.

Inspired by Ben’s bravado, the others gathered to help with a daring rescue mission: without hesitation, he dove head-first over the wall as five of them held firmly onto his feet.

Defying gravity, Ben hung upside-down to rescue the pup from the perilous water and bring him back to safety.
