Meet “Augie”, The Golden Retriever Who Just Set A Record As the Oldest Dog At 20 Years Young

This gorgeous golden retriever recently commemorated a momentous milestone: her 20th birthday! To celebrate, she indulged in a yummy pup-friendly carrot cake and spent quality time with her loving pet parents and canine siblings.

Not only was August’s twentieth birthday a momentous occasion for her and her family, but it also marked an incredible milestone in history!

August, also known as Augie, is currently the oldest golden retriever in existence. While other goldens have reached a venerable age of 17 or even 18 and 19 years old, Augie made it to an unprecedented 20!

Despite Augie’s advanced age, she enjoys a remarkable quality of life. Although her kidneys have given her some trouble over the years, and it may take longer for her to get up & go these days than in younger days past – she still loves nothing more than strolling around the yard with ease!

Augie’s lived an exciting life, but it hasn’t always been easy. As a rescue pup, she was adopted twice before finding her forever home that adores her with all its heart.

Although the switch from household to a household wasn’t a walk in the park, it was all worth it in the end.

Finally, Augie was granted the home she deserved – Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheidt provided her with a loving forever family and for six years now she has been surrounded by other cherished animals. She is genuinely happy and content in their environment.

It is as if faith had been predestined for Augie to be reunited with her family; she loves them so dearly.

Jennifer and Steve have made Augie’s life extraordinary with immeasurable amounts of love and exhilaration for the past few years.

Not only has she gained beloved brothers and sisters of the furry kind, but her life is full of road trips across the United States, snuggles at nightfall, and splashing playtime with fetch in the pool.

It’s no surprise that it can be tough for senior dogs to get adopted, which is why Augie feels so fortunate and grateful that Jennifer and Steve didn’t only give her a home but also brought her an entirely new life.

Augie’s remarkable longevity of 20 years can be attributed to his family’s deeply rooted affection and dedication.

We offer our sincere congratulations to Augie and her family, and we wish them a long life of shared joys.
