Puppy Found in Woods With All His Belongings Waits For Someone To Notice Him

Hank was only 8 months old when a Good Samaritan found him in the woods, but he didn’t seem like a puppy at all. Instead of running around the forest with youthful excitement, which is what most puppies would do upon seeing someone new, Hank stayed perfectly still on a discarded dog bed – seemingly unfazed by the stranger approaching him.

Help! That’s what his face screamed, as he was surrounded by old toys and a bag of dog food he couldn’t open.

Hank was on his own in survival mode until the Good Samaritan called their local animal shelter. The shelter sent staff to the rescue immediately, unsure of how Hank would act since he might become aggressive. They were surprised to find that he had a different demeanor altogether.

Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United told The Dodo that “He was nothing but love from the moment they got him.” According to Rosa, “Everybody says that he’s the sweetest dog.”

Hank was lucky enough to be rescued by some kind-hearted individuals, but it soon became apparent that he wasn’t out of the woods yet. Hank had a broken leg which shelter staff believes may have happened over two weeks before he was found.

It was too painful for him to leave his bed in the woods, they said.

Humans and Animals United stepped in to help when Hank required extensive surgery after his injury.

Fond agreed without hesitation to take him into their care and give him the medical intervention he desperately needed.

She took the pup to a local veterinary hospital for some care. Hank is scheduled to have surgery that will change his life, but he needs to gain some weight first. In the meantime, he is enjoying being showered with love and affection from the staff at the vet’s office.

Fond says that, although they’ve received many requests to adopt Hank since Humans and Animals United posted about him on their Facebook page, no one has been selected yet.

“He’s going to have a little bit of a journey to go through before he’s fully adaptable,” said Fond. “But he’s safe now and will never be hurt again.”
