Owning a pet dog is truly a cherished blessing: they not only exhibit loyal and loving behavior but also can even save your life! There are several instances where dogs have stepped in to protect their owners or alert them of impending danger.
Now, one mother is giving her pup the title of hero after he saved her baby’s life by alerting the parents when their child stopped breathing.
Kelly Andrew, from Boston, Massachusetts is the proud parent to both a human infant and her beloved pet dog Henry – a Boston terrier. Unfortunately, Henry had developed some bad habits recently; namely breaking into the nursery in Kelly’s house during late-night hours and disturbing their little one.
Kelly was exasperated with her dog’s antics, especially since the baby had been unwell. Unexpectedly, she noticed that her child was no longer breathing.
When Kelly’s daughter was urgently taken to the hospital, she quickly realized Henry wasn’t causing a commotion but rather attempting to save her baby girl’s life.
Henry, the loyal family dog, was aware that something wasn’t right. By keeping the baby awake and alerting her parents to the situation, Henry likely saved this little one’s life by helping her get medical help before time ran out.
Kelly took to Twitter, exclaiming her amazement that dogs are so devoted. “I can’t imagine what the outcome could have been without him waking her up,” she wrote. “We truly don’t deserve such loyal and loving animals like them.”
After an overnight stay at the hospital, Kelly’s darling baby is now much improved. Additionally, her brave pup Henry kept watch throughout the darkness despite being petrified of it!
She expressed her immense gratitude to the ER department at Connecticut Children’s Hospital, referring to them as “literal heroes” for their assistance in helping out her daughter.
All eyes were on the beloved pup Henry as his tale started to spread like wildfire. People became astonished at his amazing intuition and some even shared their stories of how dogs can be lifesavers – even when it appears to them as mischievous canine conduct!
After weeks of confusion, this woman eventually discovered why her service dog kept returning to her parents’ room night after night: the pooch was desperately trying to alert them about something wrong with Dad. Each time he pushed the pup away, she’d come back for more – but as soon as Dad got his pacemaker fitted, the behavior ceased completely.
As someone who suffers from a chronic illness, I am always amazed by how my dogs can detect when something is wrong with me. On many occasions, they have saved me from going to the hospital by alerting me of changes in certain body parts. Truly, there are no words that could do justice to their bravery and heroism!
